For me, tea is an overall experience that can be made or broken by any step of the buying, making, or drinking processes. This means that if a website is difficult to navigate, unattractive, or just plain irritating, it detracts from the overall experience. So when I went to the Dragon Pearl website and the loud, unnecessary music began, I could not help but take that into account and let it take away from the tea itself. It was impossible to turn off, but thankfully short-lived.
Fortunately, even though Dragon Pearl’s Bai Mu Dan tea loses points for its ridiculous website, it nearly makes up for that with its taste. Its leaves are full and gorgeous with the subtle grassy scent many white teas have, though it is a bit weaker than I prefer.
The prepared tea has a pleasant yellow colour, and my favourite part of this tea is the sweet aftertaste. Its subtlety demonstrates the tea’s superior quality. I appreciate the tea overall, but I cannot say it is unique enough to really stand out.
