Strawberry Kiwi and some of the other herbal tisanes out there are a regular staple in my house. I like to keep some chilled in the refrigerator at all times. When I am really thirsty and don't want to just sip on hot tea, I usually reach for one of these out of the fridge or water. My two year old will even drink some of them if they are on the sweeter side.Tea Guys describe this as "Sweet strawberries are blended with kiwi to create a fruit tisane that is full bodied and refreshing. Delicious iced and added to your favorite lemonade for a cooling treat." The ingredients include apples, hibiscus, rosehips, kiwi, strawberry, natural flavors. Nothing out of the ordinary and fairly of typical of most herbal tisanes. I actually have another strawberry kiwi from elsewhere in my cupboard so I have an expectation of how this will likely taste.
However, from the moment I opened the package. this began to exceed my expectations! It smells like a strawberry jolly rancher--sweet and like candy!! I ran for my other bag of strawberry kiwi tisane--the aroma from it is much tarter. Since Tea Guys recommends this chilled and there is enough for two servings, I decided to make one serving chilled and the other one hot. Knowing that my current stash of strawberry kiwi pretty tart, I opt to add a heaping teaspoon of sugar to each serving and I let them both steep close to 10 minutes.
The chilled serving is amazing!! I have little doubt that my daughter would not drink every last drop of it. It is just like strawberry kiwi jello or cool aid with just a fraction of the sugar. I also think that the anti-sugar people could get along with this chilled. This is very refreshing and great year round. Let's face it--most of us would eat strawberries year round if you could find nice sweet ones all the time. The strawberry dominates the flavor but I can taste a bit of kiwi too. The hot version is quite tart. While it is good, I really don't know why anyone would waste a drop of this drinking it hot. This is meant to be chilled. In fact, I have just made an executive decision to pour the remainder of my hot drink into another cup to be chilled and enjoyed later tonight. Tea Guys, I have just found a new place to buy my Strawberry Kiwi tisane and at just $9.75 for 6 oz, it is pretty reasonably priced. I definitely recommend this to those looking for something to enjoy chilled and a little sweet. This is great for children!
