summitoolonglily.jpg"This oolong comes from Fujian Province across the water from Taiwan. The difference of region yields a Jin Xuan with a fuller body and more robust character than its Taiwan island counterpart. Traditional white flower notes take a new dimension with this tea's buttery sweet taste." ---Summit Tea website.

Let me preface this review by stating that this oolong is VERY sensitive to temperature--be very careful not to burn it or steep it too long or it does negatively impact the flavor profile.

Greener oolongs are typically my favorite, and especially those have that creamy, buttery taste to them. When you have a really good oolong, you don't even miss flavors (presuming that you are a flavor lover like me). My first time out with this, I did over steep it or steeped in water too hot. The cup was still actually fairly tasty, but my experience with the way it tasted didn't really match Summit Tea's description so I decided to give it another shot. What an amazing difference, proper steeping can make.

My sample contains the twisted up nuggets that are typical of green oolongs and you can smell a hint of the floral that is to follow. The cup that follows provides a strong floral element and it does have a fairly full body for a greener oolong. It has a creaminess to it that kinda coats your mouth, and a delicious buttery taste, which makes this rank up there with some of my favorite oolongs. If you add a touch of sugar for this, it gives a rich dessert-like quality that reminds one of a rich sweet, buttery dessert.

This is quite good and reasonably priced for a complex green oolong at $16 for 4 oz. It is definitely one that will make you contemplate its complexity. All in all, this is one the best oolongs I have tried and one that is definitely worth purchasing. I would pull this out to impress guests with an amazing oolong including those that consider themselves oolong lovers.
