Vanessa’s Teaview Snapshot
"I was really pleased with this tea, and found that it was a terrific brew just on its own, with no milk or sugar added."

Black Frost is a high-altitude tea from the Nilgiri region of India. The name "Black Frost", to me, implies a cool, crisp flavor, and I found that that is exactly what this tea delivers. The dried tea leaves are fairly dark, leading one to believe that a dark and hearty brew awaits. On the contrary, the steeped leaves produce a medium-bodied liquid much lighter in color than I had expected. This is one of those teas whose flavor can be described as refreshing, clean, or crisp. Very often, we tea reviewers find all sorts of (sometimes pretentious) ways to describe the flavor profiles of teas, using comparisons to nuts, fruits, flowers, candies and more. Here, all I can say about the flavor of this tea is that it tastes like, well...tea. This is just tasty black tea, with no bells and whistles, no fruit pieces, no flowers, no added flavors. In terms of flavor intensity, I would say this tea falls happily between a Darjeeling and an Assam. While it is not nearly as flowery as a Darjeeling, and also not nearly as strong and malty as an Assam, it does seem to possess some toned-down characteristics of each of those tea types. I was really pleased with this tea, and found that it was a terrific brew just on its own, with no milk or sugar added. I never tried adding anything to this blend, but I suppose that because the tea is naturally mild and sweet, milk and sugar might blend nicely, if that is what you are craving. I hope to order some of this in the future- this is a great tea to have on hand for those days when you just want a simple cup of black tea. On a last note, I think that this tea would to well with newcomers to tea (or to non-supermarket variety bagged teas) because this tea has a clean and gentle flavor to it.
