When I first opened the bag of Rishi Tea's Organic Cinnamon Plum, my roommate looked on in confusion as I skipped over to my husband and told him to partake of the glorious scent. It reminded me of homemade apple cider, and I really love homemade apple cider.Needless to say, my expectations were high. We had to run out of the door pretty quickly after I made my first cup, so I did not get to steep it as long as I generally prefer for herbal teas. I thought this could by why I found the first cup rather disappointing. The flavour was a bit subdued, and the most obvious component that came through was the hibiscus.
The ingredients are organic and appealing, and I generally find Rishi Teas to my liking, so I figured it deserved another try. The second cup was a great deal more appealing, but still didn't live up to the scent. Although, to be fair, the scent was pretty epic.
I prefer it steep for a very long time: at least 5 minutes. This is also one of the very few teas that I prefer a bit cooled down. The plum flavour comes through more when it has cooled off a bit. The cinnamon flavour is also pleasantly tame and lingers long into the aftertaste - it doesn't add any spiciness to the tea, so the overall flavour is still sweet.
