Thumbs up!"My cup brewed fairly strong meaning the black tea base is not a mild and meek one. The flavor profile weighs more heavily on the bergamot side than being balanced between bergamot and vanilla. This has more of a creamy vanilla aftertaste."

teaguysearlgreycream.jpgLet me take a moment to rage about how much I love Tea Guys. They are very affordable, have many great blends, and give great customer service---and I know this from experience. Tea Guys sometimes puts surprise ingredients in some of their blends, but that is not the case this time. The ingredients are simply black tea, bergamot, vanilla and cornflower petals. I ripped open the sample and was greeted by a very strong bergamot and vanilla aroma followed by a hint of smoke probably from the black tea.

I steeped this according to directions and added just a pinch of rock cane sugar. My cup brewed fairly strong meaning the black tea base is not a mild and meek one. The flavor profile weighs more heavily on the bergamot side than being balanced between bergamot and vanilla. This has more of a creamy vanilla aftertaste. I can also pick up on a hint of smoke in the black tea base. I have no less than 3 other samples of earl grey cream in my house from 3 different tea companies. While I have neither the time nor the desire to a true taste off between them, I did decide to pull them all out and compare for aroma, remembrance of taste, and price. I can tell you that Tea Guys version holds it own. Of the four samples, it is neither my favorite nor least favorite. It is, however, the best value for the money. For 4 oz of tea, you would spend $13.50, $12.00, $9.00 with the other 3 companies or just $7.75 with Tea Guys.

This does not quite de-throne my current favorite and convert me entirely to the Tea Guys version. However, with the economy being what it is, this is the best value and it does have a great taste. I will definitely consider giving this a rotation in my cupboard as I make future orders from Tea Guys and the need to re-stock coincide. Also, as a tip, this is delicious with a little blueberry rooibos or black tea mixed into it!
