Its OK"This truly tastes like someone actually poured some tropical fruit juice into the beverage when sweetened a bit. From the standpoint of getting a natural tasting pineapple-mango flavor, this is spot on."

teagpineapplemango.jpgPineapple-Mango placed in the Top 5 at the World Tea Championship for Best Flavored Black under $15 this year. There are no surprises in the ingredients for this one and they include: Black tea from India, pineapple and mango pieces, natural flavor, sunflower, rose and mallow blossoms. My sample is fairly aromatic and errs on the side of smelling like pineapples than mangos. There are also some small pieces of candied fruit in the package.

I was glad that I referred to TeaGschwendner's website for brewing instructions as you only leave the boiling water to steep for 2 min---not 3-5 like many black teas. I decided to use my sample to make a portion of this cold and drink it along side the hot version. This truly tastes like someone actually poured some tropical fruit juice into the beverage when sweetened a bit. From the standpoint of getting a natural tasting pineapple-mango flavor, this is spot on. I tasted a bit of bitterness to the black tea--not overwhelming but there does seem to be a touch of it. I preferred the cold cup of this to the hot one hands down.

So here's the deal--I feel a little remiss not rating this higher when it placed in the Top 5. I acknowledge that my palate is novice compared to many. TeaGschwendner got the flavoring perfect and natural tasting and if you love tropical fruit juice then this is a great tea for you. I did like it, and maybe it is just that this more of spring/summer tea that I sampling in the fall? However, some teas excite me and sending me running to the tea company's website with credit card in hand prepared to make an order, and for me this was not one of those teas.
