Maple flavored tea was not something that I had ever noticed prior to a recent trip to Canada. Whether or not it is a tea flavor that the locals enjoy may be debatable, but I can verify that it is readily available as a tourist item. Being as much a fan of sweetened teas as the next person, I found myself trying a few versions during my vacation. Shortly thereafter, I found Tea Guys Maple Sugar among my currently available samples. Today being an unusually cool day for Northern Florida, I got the urge to try this one during the early afternoon, which may have been a mistake. All of the other ingredients are absolutely absent in the aroma, which is as close as I have experienced to sitting down to a big breakfast of maple syrup covered pancakes. So much so in fact that after a few sips I oddly began to feel like I was full from eating way too many pancakes, which resulted in the aroma suddenly become much too strong. While the aroma leads you to believe that this tea could almost be too sweet, that wasn't the case at all. There was also a slightly bitter aftertaste that seemed to get stronger the more I drank.Needless to say, this is not one of my favorite Tea Guy's blends. In all fairness, I do think it would probably make a better morning cup. It came across as much too substantial to be enjoyed as an afternoon tea.
