Golden Moon's Sugar Caramel Oolong had piqued my curiosity. So I decided to brew a few cups. My first experience left me with a lovely golden and sweet cup of tea. I didn't notice a distinct flavor of caramel, but I did notice that this tea had a very pleasant cherry taste, along with the sweet. I thought perhaps I didn't brew this tea long enough, so with the second steeping time I went for a full 5 minutes. That didn't help this tea to taste any more like caramel. It actually became very bitter with the extra steeping time.I prefer this tea steeped for 3 minutes or less. That gives you a perfectly smooth tasting cup. While I can't say that this tea tasted like caramel, I did enjoy the taste of this tea very much. To me, it tasted almost exactly like a chocolate covered cherry. It was very sweet, and I only added just a bit of sweetener, as you can easily over sweeten this tea. I can actually stand to drink this tea without sugar, and enjoy it very much. Not only does it taste like chocolate covered cherries, but it also smells like chocolate covered cherries. I sense a slight vanilla undertone as long as I don't steep for to long.
Overall, I liked this tea. I would probably welcome a cup again. It isn't my top favorite, but would help curb my sweet tooth.
