Revolution Tea has become a favorite of mine when I reach for something in a tea bag/infuser. Their teas come in a sort of designer teabag/infuser. I first experienced them a while dining at P.F. Chang's. One of the thing that I have long enjoyed about dining there is that they have some great tea options to go along with dinner. They used to bring an assortment of tea bags/infusers out to your table and you chose out of a wooden case the tea you wanted to have with dinner. Now days, you order it by the pot (yes, Revolution makes teapot size infusers!) and the teas along with their descriptions are right on the menu. Revolution Tea is the company that makes my favorite oolong, Dragon Eye Oolong, and I seldom get anything but that when I go there. However, I was excited to receive this as a sample and especially after reading David A's comments about this white pear tea.The smell right out of the sample box is that of a nice subtle pear aroma. I steeped the bag in about 10 ounces of steaming water for about 4 minutes while tasting it frequently to make sure it wasn't getting bitter. This does brew up to be a very strong white tea, which I thoroughly enjoyed because one of my complaints of white tea is that it is sometimes too delicate for me. The pear aroma and taste is the delicate part of the experience with this tea. Mostly I taste a strong white tea that has a touch of sweetness and a gentle pear aftertaste. I did not add any sugar to this--stop looking shocked! It stands alone, but I am sure it would be great with sugar too!
I think this would be great chilled, but would be concerned that the pear flavor would be completely lost if you dropped an ice cube into it. If you are looking for something with alot of pear flavor to it, then I am not sure this is the one you are looking for. It is a very subtle pear taste. However, if you want to enjoy a strong white tea brew with a gentle pear aftertaste, then this is the tea for you! Revolution tea prices this moderately, but their shipping is a little pricey. For example, you could order 30 of these individually boxed infusers for $13.99 but the shipping is $7.88 for UPS ground. However, if you check their website for retail locations, it might give you some options where you can pick this up in your local area without paying for shipping. Though by the time you pay for gas, the shipping might be a better option---I won't get started (in case you haven't it figured out, there isn't one close to my house)!
Bottom line, I enjoy having a few good tea bag/infuser options in cabinet for the convenience factor. I really enjoyed drinking this and the strong white tea flavor was great. Since I periodically order from Revolution Tea anyway, I might find myself throwing a box of these on my order now and then.
