All righty, let's get the preliminary whining out of the way: The Simple Leaf has a very limited inventory available and does not ship to Canada from their website. Grumble, grumble.Onwards.
I have very limited experience with oolong teas, so I doubt I can appreciate this tea to the fullest extent, but I'll try my best to review this tea as if I knew what I was talking about.
The description as well as many of the reviews of The Simple Leaf's Honeybee Oolong mentioned its honey and fruit flavours, but I found it hard to detect much fruit flavour or scent. Even the honey was somewhat understated compared to the extreme creaminess I found in the scent and overall flavour. The honey and fruit flavours were there if I looked hard enough for them, but they were more in the undertones.
That being said, I have no problem with the strong creaminess I found in this tea. I don't like adding anything to my teas, and I feel that a good tea should be able to stand on its own without sweetener or milk, so the honey/creamy flavour of this oolong is something I don't often find in my tea. It's so decadent and rich, and I applaud the fact that The Simple Leaf pulls of this incredible depth of flavour without adding anything to the tea itself.
I would recommend this tea to any oolong novice as it clearly demonstrates the depth and uniquness that can be found in this branch of tea. As an added bonus, for such a lavish tea with no fillers, Honeybee Oolong is very reasonably priced. I will most likely revisit this tea in the future.
