Thumbs up!"The tea is warm and sweet, gently orange and vanilla-y, creamy with a pleasant, fragrant black tea balancing it. "

mightyleaf-orange-dulce-loo.jpgI'd like to start this review by mentioning that I think Mighty Leaf makes some fabulous scented and flavored teas. For some reason, the sound of Orange Dulce didn't reach out and grab me, and aside from wanting something sweet and an early afternoon pick me up (both wishes admirably satisfied by this tea, by the way), wouldn't have thought to try this tea. What a mistake!! Possibly, this is one of the most delicious dessert teas I've ever tried. The smell alone is satisfying (and tantalizing!), with a mellow, full, vanilla-y and darned near chocolate-y citrus scenting.

This tea is a blend of black and ceylon teas, which I thought might account for the lightness, intensity wise, of the black tea base. For someone like me, a bit caffeine sensitive, I had the distinct impression that I could drink this after dinner, provided dinner was on the early side. I thought the Ceylon was a great addition to the base.

I heated my water to very nearly a boil and then steeped this pretty black tea, speckled with orange peel, for three minutes. Due to the gentleness and completely non bitter nature of the tea leaves, I think it could have taken a longer steep time with no worries, to bring out more flavor. The fragrance, warm and substantial, almost creamy, is most pleasant and taste wise the tea is a delight, all around. Adding just a little, wee bit of sweetener enhances the already gracious sweetness of the tea wonderfully, but you don't need much. The sweet taste of the tea is right up front, and I associated each sip with taking a bite of lightly orange scented chocolate. The tea is warm and sweet, gently orange and vanilla-y, creamy with a pleasant, fragrant black tea balancing it.

I found the flavor of the tea to be at its absolute peak when it had cooled down just slightly to really warm, but not piping hot. I would love another cup this afternoon and am contemplating some other Mighty Leaf blends to add to my order. Mighty Leaf has a great website and a customer rewards program, as well, that makes ordering some more of this fabulous tea painless. I would highly recommend this tea to anyone, even those who aren't big fans of scented and flavored teas.
