Thumbs up!"The natural blueberry flavor melded effortlessly with the nutty rooibos base, creating a creamy and fruity flavor. This tea has every quality that one would want from a dessert tea: rich, creamy, sweet, and smooth. I think I may have found my new favorite rooibos blend. "

baxterblueberryrooib1Blueberry tea is becoming increasingly popular, but in my experience, flavoring tea with blueberry can often go horribly awry. The bad versions of blueberry teas are usually those that rely too much (or exclusively) on artificial flavors rather than real blueberries. Always keeping an eye open for new blueberry teas, I was very much looking forward to sampling Baxter Tea's blueberry rooibos tea. This is my first experience with a Baxter Tea product, and if this is any indication of the quality of their products, then this company is worth supporting. According to Baxter's website (which, by the way offers a very nice and user-friendly interface), this tea is described simply as 'Rooibos tea with natural blueberry pieces". I was instantly relieved to see that "natural blueberry pieces" were used, and it was particularly encouraging to actually see ample dried blueberries in the blend. There also appeared to be blue cornflowers sprinkled throughout the mix, making the tea visually appealing. The scent of this tea is nothing short of heavenly. It reminded me of blueberry muffins or those packets of blueberry-and-cream oatmeal that I grew up eating. The tea brews to an almost coffee-like color, which is dark, even for a rooibos. The flavor of this tea is, as it should be, the main attraction. The natural blueberry flavor melded effortlessly with the nutty rooibos base, creating a creamy and fruity flavor. The rich blueberry flavor lingered in my mouth long after my cup was finished (which occurred pretty quickly, as this was one tasty treat!). This tea has every quality that one would want from a dessert tea: rich, creamy, sweet, and smooth. This tea was good, actually crazy good. I think I may have found my new favorite rooibos blend. I am often in the habit of sharing the remainders of my post-review tea samples with others once I have brewed enough to complete a decent review; this is not to be the case with Baxter's blueberry rooibos. Oh no, I plan to be selfish and keep the remainder of my sample all for myself, and then promptly order a healthy stash of this to keep on supply. Not only is the tea tasty, but at $7.25 for 4 ounces, it is also a very affordable way to spoil your sweet tooth.
