Katie’s Teaview Snapshot

Since I started Teaviewing, I have had the chance to sample many teas I otherwise wouldn't have been able to. This whole process has especially opened my eyes to the depth and complexity that oolong teas often have, and said genre of tea has quickly become my new favourite. I simply cannot get enough of them, and I am super-stoked with every new one I get to try.I had my hopes high for a tea named as classily as Great Red Cloak Oolong. For my first steep of this tea, I used just below boiling water, 1 tablespoon of tea (as per the website's recommendation), and I went on the quick side by leaving it for only 90 seconds. I wouldn't go so far as to call the result disappointing, but it did not reach the level I have come to expect from quality oolongs.
I let it steep for 3 minutes on the second infusion, and while it improved the flavour slightly, I still wasn't thrilled. The strong fruity scent misled me into thinking the tea would have a much heavier body than it actually did. This is good and has a certain mass-appeal, but it doesn't measure up to the body and depth I had hoped for.
