Not Great"The cinnamon definitely takes center stage in this blend, leaving very little room for the other ingredients and I was unable to detect any plum flavor, which was a disappointment."

cinnamonplum.jpgOrganic Cinnamon Plum is a limited seasonal blend offered through Rishi Tea.  Ingredients are listed as organic cinnamon, organic fair trade certified hibiscus, organic currants, organic licorice root, and natural plum flavor.  In dry form, this tisane resembles a beautiful potpourri and the scent is reminiscent of freshly baked raisin cinnamon bread. Rishi recommends using one tablespoon per eight-ounce cup, with a steep time of five minutes in boiling water. I decided to reduce the steep time to four minutes for my sample, using one tablespoon for my eight-ounce cup.

The brewed tisane produced a deep crimson liquor, with an aroma so strong, it filled my kitchen with a heady cinnamon fragrance. The cinnamon definitely takes center stage in this blend, leaving very little room for the other ingredients and I was unable to detect any plum flavor, which was a disappointment. After the cinnamon flavor had some time to dissipate, an aftertaste of extremely sweet currants and licorice root coated my mouth.

Overall, I would recommend this tisane only if you are a huge fan of cinnamon. If you were searching for an herbal blend that compliments the delicate flavor of plum, I would recommend you continue your search elsewhere.
