Troy’s Teaview Snapshot
"An amazing blend of simply dried tea buds and leaves, that can wake you gently, or relax you slowly."

According to the Kokomo web site this Indian white tea is from the 2007 harvest, as I have no tongue for vintages that means exactly nill to me. What does mean something to me is that like the rest of the new wave of white teas, which are really the old wave that we couldn't get before due to shipping logistics, these leaves are a world apart from the lifeless tinge that was the hallmark flavor of white tea in America. The leaves, though multi-shaded monochromatic, still manage to catch the eye. The ethereal fuzzy silver buds remind me of white ink tattoos, and the darker green leaves provide an interesting contrast. The leaves are only lightly fragmented, giving the whole affair the appearance of dry leaf litter on the garden floor. Munching the dry leaf is an interesting experience, its minty, with a slight cinnamon aftertaste.
Like all white teas the flavor will vary quite wildly based on the water its brewed in. In the case of my water, California's Liquid rock, the tea takes on a very dense, but mellow character. It feels very oily and viscose in your mouth, and opens with a very mild dragon-well like taste, followed by a quick flowery finish. This is a very soothing, and relaxing tea, not at all abrasive, in short its not wake-me-up juice, more of a gentile mourning kiss on your cheek. It does bring the alertness tea is known for, but rather than tearing it from your mind, it strokes, and coaxes you out.
With blends like this I can really finally see why Chinese emperors once destroyed their own empires in search of the perfect cup of white tea, and while hardly a bargain, its definitely worth a spot on the shelf.

This is one of my favorites. Oolong creme caramel is another. loose teas are a bargain because it takes so little to make a cup and it can be used 2 to 3 times. I have found it’s better than medicine for a cold or upset stomach.
My Rating:

8/10
