Katie’s Teaview Snapshot

I have been a bit M.I.A. for a few weeks now due to a brutal cold followed immediately by necessary cramming for an economics test that I am reasonably sure wasn't in a language I know. When I finally convinced myself to sit down and write a review today, I really wanted to enjoy the tea I was writing about. The Simple Leaf, while not my favourite tea company by any means (Katie is unhappy with companies that do not ship to Canada), has yet to have a tea I outright did not enjoy, and since I've recently been discovering how much I desperately enjoy oolongs, I figured Tankha was exactly what I needed. With the first infusion, I steeped it at 160 degrees for 3 minutes and ended up with a light-coloured and bright-tasting cup of tea. It had a citrus and floral scent, but the floral ended up overtaking any citrus notes in the flavour. The whole thing was a bit on the thin side, but overall a very pleasant cup.
For my second infusion, I opted for a 4-minute infusion at 180 degrees to see if it would bring out a bit more boldness from the leaves. The colour was a bit darker, but the good flavours from the first infusion seemed entirely lost. Almost all the floral scent disappeared, and the taste became very dry. If I only rated this tea based on the first infusion, I would probably be a bit more positive, but the second cup bordered on disappointing and made the overall experience less than I'd hoped for.
