"Rare white tea from China is blended with bright, sun-sweetened grapefruit for an invigorating citrus-infused cup." --- Kalahari Tea website.I have had a couple of grapefruit flavored tea blends in the past few months and have been rather surprised how much I've enjoyed them because I am not a fan of the actual fruit. I find it to be a little tart for my taste. Many of the grapefruit blends have been quite well done with a delicious, tangy citrus flavor and I was hopeful that would be the case with this Kalahari blend. Kalahari lists the ingredients of this as: Organic Bai Mudan White tea, Organic Eleuthro Root, Guarana, and natural Grapefruit flavor.
The dry tea bag is unimpressive to look at as so many of them are---very small tea particles and little aroma to speak of. I infused this in water that had brought to a bubbly steam in the pan for close to 4 min. Unfortunately, I am just not too impressed with this one. It primarily tastes like a very strong white tea---and not a particularly good one. I sense the guarana or eleuthero is adding a slightly roasted note to this. It is not bitter, but not really very good either. Sadly, I am picking up on almost no citrus or grapefruit notes like I have experienced in other blends. As this cooled, I occasionally thought that I could detect a citrusy note (if I tried really hard), but it is more likely in my head than in my cup.
While this isn't necessarily nasty or anything, there is nothing really special about it. It is plain and might as well be an unflavored white tea because the grapefruit flavor is AWOL. This is not a blend that I would buy or really recommend to others for purchase. If you want a decent tasting tea (bagged) from Kalahari, I would suggest the Raspberry Truffle or Matcha Mint. I might have become too much of a tea snob to really enjoy bagged tea anymore.
