davidorganicafricanmint"Explore Northern Africa, from its souks to its deserts, with this intense combination of spices and mint. It combines organic, fairly-traded green tea and peppermint with organic cardamom, ginger, licorice root, fennel clove and black pepper. Deliciously sweet, with all the romance of the Maghreb." ---David's Tea website.

After reading the description of this on David's Tea website, it got me to thinking that this might be like Maghreb Mint by Rishi, which I have tried and loved. I just hope that the last three ingredients in this---the licorice root, fennel clove and black pepper are not too dominating because they are not generally ingredients that I love (though they are also in Maghreb Mint by Rishi I should note). My sample package smells of a nice, spicy mint and I prepared this using water cut short of boiling and steeped for close to 3 min.

This blend is essentially a mint chai. It is both sweet, yet spicy. I would call this a moderately spiced blend so if you like your spices on the mild side, then I am not sure this is for you. The spices used are nicely balanced and despite the licorice, fennel and black pepper as ingredients, this is quite tasty and not off-putting. Those ingredients have a way of often dominating a blend and that is not the case here. I actually found this cup to be quite tasty and liked it with a pinch of rock cane sugar and a splash of milk as well.

Overall, this one is quite good and is one that I will considering purchasing. I like the overall sweet spiciness of the blend accompanied by the mint. As a side note, Rishi has a great Maghreb Mint Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe on their website and I think this blend is a great possible option to use in that recipe.
