stashkopiliStash Tea started out in the early 70's, supplying loose leaf tea only to local shops. They have now blossomed into one of the most recognizable names in the business, producing specialty teas for countless source outlets. They now offer over 200 blends - an impressive selection, to be sure.

This Assam varietal comes from the Kopili Estate - the only estate of its kind that is significantly above sea level. An impressive 3,000 acres at over a third-mile-high, the Estate lies near dense rainforest terrain as well as a hot springs, which benefits this unique tea. This is not your run of the mill breakfast tea. Most sea level Assam teas end up in common blends such as Irish Breakfast, English Breakfast, Scottish Breakfast, etc. However, this tea lies in a class all its own.

Stash's Kopili Assam has what I can only describe as a food-like flavor that you can almost chew on. It's very reminiscent of some savory dish containing thick leaves that I can't quite put my finger on. It's incredibly satisfying and potentially could work to curb an appetite. Its hearty flavor makes it well suited for afternoon sipping.

A 3 minute brew is sufficient for this tea's bold character to come through. It tends to get slightly bitter as it cools into mid-range temperatures, but the addition of recommended milk offsets that and balances the flavors nicely. This tea is pretty wonderful on its own, straight, but it does also go very well with milk.
