rishisilver.jpgSo, as this is my first review on TeaViews, I would like to start by giving a little background on this tea.

Rishi Tea is all about setting the standard for premium teas from any origin.  This company travels far and wide, searching for the best loose leaf teas out there.  Personally, I have noticed that many of their teas are of pretty good quality, consisting of a lot of various flavors and being USDA Organic seems beneficial to all.  Originally I was skeptical about Rishi Tea, as I first saw it at my local grocery store, along with various teas that I deem low quality.  After tasting some at a friend's I realized that I was quite wrong about Rishi, as their teas are some of the best I have tasted!  Which brings me to their Silver Needle Tea.

Silver Needle is a White Tea that consists of oxidized tea leaves from the Fujian province in China.  Described on the bag as "Reserve White Tea with a sublime, sweet flavor and rich, savory finish," Silver Needle sounds quite good!  I first smelled the dry leaves from the bag, as I always do and found that it has a very generic White Tea smell to it, sort of mild and vegetal; nothing wrong with that.  Usually one is able to tell just by smell whether it is a light or dark tea.  After brewing a cup (using my Zarafina tea maker) I first took in its aroma.  I brewed as per instructions on the bag: 4-5 minute steep in 185 degree water.  The smell is quite subtle, not surprising as most unflavored White Teas do not have a strong smell.  It was a sweet smell on the nose and even sweeter on the palate as I took my first taste .  Silver Needle has a very smooth texture to it and a tough flavor to taste.  Though it is rich and sweet, there was really nothing that reminded me of this certain taste.  The best way I can describe this tea is "fresh," almost like an Aquafina type taste to it, but more subtle.

It is a tremendous tea though, as it goes down quite easy and does not have strong overtones to it.  A good tea for those just getting into tea, or those who simply like the more subtle varieties of tea.  Overall something that I enjoyed and will have again, perhaps when I wake up and greet the day.

I am little skeptical about his review. This tea won best silverneedle in world tea championship, which tells you something is good about this tea.
