Thumbs up!"After all, the tea had no bitterness to it, was nice and smooth, and obviously, if you've brewed yourself a cup of chocolate orange truffle tea, you aren't really interested in the solo flavor of a black tea. The black tea does a nice job as a smooth background for the starring flavors and I really enjoyed the brew."

mightyleaf-chocolate-orange.jpgMighty Leaf tea is making some really really intriguing sounding teas.  Teas that I consider "dessert teas" as they have names that sound like something from a dessert menu and make you say "mmmmm, that sounds good!" out loud just reading about them. My great wish with these "dessert teas" is that they could be set in a non caffeinated base, or in a naturally decaffeinated base, as I really want to brew these teas for dessert, and it seems so weird to drink them for or with breakfast! If I can really look at it as a misfortune, my tolerance for caffeine
dictates that even the most desserty sounding of tea blends must be enjoyed for breakfast rather than after dinner if they are in a black tea base.

So one morning, my husband and I sat down to consume our morning repast of oatmeal and homemade raisin toast with the somewhat unusual morning tea pairing of Mighty Leaf's Chocolate Orange Truffle tea. The tea smells fabulous and definitely desserty, and you will be impressed, as I certainly was, when you note that the tea contains not just chunks of orange peel (which always looks so pretty and pleasing against black tea leaves) but CHUNKS OF CHOCOLATE in the mix. Mmmm!! If you enjoy chocolate as I do, it will be no surprise to you that I've put that in bold print! Nice so far. The brewing of the tea releases a wonderful scent, not as heavy as a cookie, but equally stimulating of the salivary
glands. Another step in the right direction. Now, how would the tea taste?

I'm pleased to report that the tea tastes great! The chocolate and orange flavors both come through in a nicely balanced manner that is very pleasing to the palate. I will actually make the very rare (for me) comment that the black tea could even have been a little stronger to support the bold flavorings of the orange and chocolate. But I may be
wrong. After all, the tea had no bitterness to it, was nice and smooth, and obviously, if you've brewed yourself a cup of chocolate orange truffle tea, you aren't really interested in the solo flavor of a black tea. The black tea does a nice job as a smooth background for the starring flavors and I really enjoyed the brew. The citrusy flavor was nice with the chocolate and neither flavor was rude or overbearing. I didn't find the citrus flavor to be oily or overpowering, either, which I thought was well done by the blender.

This was an enjoyable cup of tea, even with oatmeal and raisin toast, though I'd recommend drinking it a little later in the morning than that!
