Thumbs up!"I found this cup to be really delicious. I liked the pear flavor and only wish that the caramel had been a little more discernible. This would be a great dessert tea as well as a refreshing afternoon pick-me-up."

"A heavenly merging of pear and luscious caramel flavors make this one of the more popular teas from Dammann. Black tea, pear and caramel flavors." --- The Teacup website.

La Belle Helene is better known as a play/opera depicting the story of Helen of Troy for those that are interested. My tea sample of this blend contains the long wire leaves of Ceylon tea and the aroma smells magnificent. The primary aroma is that of a nice juicy candy pear with the subtle warm aroma of caramel that finishes a breath drawn from the bag.

The aroma coming from my cup is somewhat more subdued than what I experienced with the sample. While I tasted this without sugar, I do prefer this one with sugar as it brings out the flavors a little more. The pear taste is probably not the most natural as if someone dripped pear juice into the tea or even like baked pear. I would describe it to be more a delicious candy pear. When the cup is very hot, the caramel is difficult to detect. However, as it cools I would say that the cup provides a black tea and pear taste with a gentle caramel finish. The pear flavor definitely dominates here.

This is a Dammann Freres blend and, for those not familiar, Dammann Freres is known for selecting a quality tea base and flavoring it more subtlely. In other words, you do taste the tea. Some of their blends are more subtle flavored than others and I would not call this one of their most subdued ones.

I found this cup to be really delicious. I liked the pear flavor and only wish that the caramel had been a little more discernible. This would be a great dessert tea as well as a refreshing afternoon pick-me-up. There is very little not to love about this cuppa! It offers the best pear flavor that I have tasted so far. I really enjoyed this as a hot cup, but suspect that this would make terrific iced tea in the warmer months. I will definitely be purchasing some of this.
