Its OK"The leaves themselves looked decent, too, with quite a few nicely-sized whole leaves. Certainly much higher quality than that found in the tea bags I'm so used to. However, the taste didn't even come close to living up to the sight and smell."

stash-earl-green.jpgI'm a huge fan of Earl Grey, especially Earl Green. I also admit to being fairly new to loose leaf varieties of it. Up until very recently, I primarily got my Earl Grey fix from tea bags, so I'm no expert on the loose leaf versions of it, but even with my limited experience, I can tell there are better ones than this out there.

Upon opening my sample, I was pleased with the scent: Earl Grey, through and through, and fairly strong to boot. The leaves themselves looked decent, too, with quite a few nicely-sized whole leaves. Certainly much higher quality than that found in the tea bags I'm so used to. However, the taste didn't even come close to living up to the sight and smell. I was very careful when steeping it (always am, as I've had some nasty experiences with green tea), but it still tasted very watered down and weak, with noticeable bitter grassy notes. Since I'm fairly knowledgeable in tea bag varieties of Earl Grey and Earl Green, I can easily say that this tastes much more like a bagged tea than a loose leaf one.

Bottom Line: If you've never had a decent Earl Green, or have mostly just been drinking tea bags, this will probably suffice. But if you have any experience with quality Earl Grey, I'd recommend staying away.
