Kenilworth is a Ceylon (OP) tea offered by Plucker’s Pick. I enjoy black tea and I have a special fondness for breakfast blends and single estate black tea tasty enough to be my first cup of the day. I especially enjoy teas from India and Sri Lanka and I was happy to give Kenilworth a try.
I prepared my cup using 1 teaspoon in 8 ounces of boiling water, for a 3 minute steep. The liquid was a deep golden brown and the scent was very non-descript. The scent seemed to match the taste, as nothing really stood out for me other than a hint of unwanted bitterness. I decided to add a bit of cream, which removed the bitter flavor but didn’t help to unearth any hidden flavors.
This tea would work as a breakfast tea, as it seems to have enough body. In fact, as I finished my cup, I noticed that the tea left me with a very heavy feeling. The main problem I had with this tea is that it lacked a distinctive flavor. It was ok, but this tea will not be taking the place of my go to breakfast blends.
