"A bit like potpourri-in-a-cup, you can imagine this flavor pairs well with the holiday spirit, with visions of sugarplums and new fallen snow dancing in your head and outside your frost-covered window."

This is a limited seasonal blend which is currently sold out at the source. When it was offered, Rishi donated 25% of the profits to the Clean Water Fund to help protect America's waters and promote the necessity for clean, good water -- an invaluable resource for us tea drinkers! Rishi indicates that it may also be offered again next year due to the program's success. This tea certainly won't appeal to everybody - it contains no "tea", but rather a variety of fruits, herbs and spices. Contained within is a mouth-watering blend of currants, hibiscus, plum, cinnamon and licorice root. One whiff of the dried blend in the bag, and you start to salivate. I confess to eating a few of the dried pieces of fruit out of the mix - a deliciously sweet foreshadowing of the flavors to come.
The liquor brews up to a rich, deep cranberry color, with the recommended full-boil temperature and a full 5 minute brew. No doubt this helps to extract all the flavor from the mix. After brewing, I regrettably discarded the tea without a second brewing. Having gotten a whiff of the afterbrew particles, I am positive they would have retained a substantial amount of flavor and I should have thought twice before foolishly dumping.
A bit like potpourri-in-a-cup, you can imagine this flavor pairs well with the holiday spirit, with visions of sugarplums and new fallen snow dancing in your head and outside your frost-covered window. It is naturally sweet and spicy, as one could expect. Despite what I expected to be an overpowering cinnamon flavor, the cinnamon actually takes a side seat (not a back seat, mind you) to the plum and hibiscus flavors coming through the forefront. I'm reminded strongly of the varied hibiscus iced teas I've sipped in the past, and imagine this would be a wonderful iced beverage year-round. It starts off with an astringency that puckers the corners of the cheeks, and then subtly develops into a rewardingly sweet aftertaste. There are woody/oaky tones from the cinnamon, and mildly-syrupy aftertaste tones from the sweet fruit. This is definitely a rich flavor.
Unfortunately the size of the sample received could render only one cupping, so I cannot comment further on varied temperatures, or whether this would indeed make a fabulous iced tea as surmised. I suspect you could also get in the holiday tradition and mull a few tablespoons of this with a few glasses of red table wine for a romantic fireside sipping treat.
