When I first saw the dried tea sample, the sheer amount of various ingredients made me both skeptical and intrigued; it looks like there’s so much going on that it seemed overwhelming. This green rooibos tea is mixed with candied tropical fruits, cocoa bits and peppers which, once steeped, emerges as a lightly sweetened herbal tea that’s fruitier rather than floral. It’s as though someone took a very light mixed citrus tea and added a touch of sweetness and flowers to it. This would be a pleasant break from other herbal teas and a soothing sick day tea. Since I’ve recently realized I’m not a fan of chamomile, Teavana’s blend is that much more attractive. An unusual characteristic of this blend is the peppers that add a warming cinnamon-like taste that I can’t decide if I want more or less of. It does add a tummy-taming element to the result, but it also seems to cause a dry aftertaste that sends the initial pleasantness a bit off-kilter. This is worth a taste, especially for herbal tea lovers looking for a change.
