tetulia-black.jpgTeatulia is a company that is very easy to love. Their website is very informative and easy to navigate. Their staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Their teas are as promised, organic, fresh, clean and smooth. Teatulia’s teas are grown in Northern Bangladesh and they pride themselves on benefiting both the people of the region as well as the environment.

This morning I have the pleasure of trying their loose leaf Black. Of course my first step is to inhale a deep whiff of the dry leaves and I was met with a crisp, fresh aroma that actually reminded me of standing on a mountainside filling my lungs to capacity with clean air. While I usually add sweetener and milk to black tea, I wanted to try this one first on its own. There is a slight sweetness to this tea that reminds me a bit of blackberries. It is not at all bitter but instead is very rich, smooth and satisfying. I am again struck by how fresh it not only smells but also tastes.

After having fully enjoyed my first cup without additions, I decided to add some cream and sugar to my second cup. This is one of the few black teas that I can honestly say is able to retain its own identity even with the addition of cream. The delicious flavor still comes through and is distinguishable from the cream instead of just being masked by it. I would highly recommend this tea as a staple in any tea lover’s supply. Even if you don’t think you are a fan of “plain” black teas, this one could change your mind.
