Reviewing Teas Etc.'s Mango Nut Rooibos tea presented me with a real challenge. On one hand, this tea is delicious. On the other hand, despite its name, the tea really tastes nothing like mango, and although the tea is touted on the Teas Etc. website as being a combination of mango, macadamia, and coconut, the first two flavors are added by way of the catchall "flavor" in the ingredients list. If I wanted to be a real stickler, I would probably give this tea a sub-par review for its failure to live up to its name. However, because I absolutely adore coconut and because the marriage of coconut (and I mean real, actual coconut, not coconut flavor) to rooibos is so masterfully accomplished here, I can't help but give this tea some rave reviews. A warm, toasted coconut element dominates the blend and reminds me very much of one of my all-time favorite rooibos blends, Zhi Tea's Sweet Desert Delight. If you like coconut, then you are sure to enjoy this tea. However, if you are really looking for some serious mango flavor, then you'll have to keep looking. Try as I might, I could not taste and substantial mango flavor in this tea; the mango flavor probably would have been better achieved through the use of dried mango pieces rather than some non-descript "flavor". This tea is also supposed to contain macadamia (or macadamia flavoring), but the coconut really overwhelms the palate and blocks other flavors. My overall impression of this tea: It is a delicious tea for what it truly is: a rich and hearty coconut tea; however it will disappoint those looking for mango and nut flavors, which here completely elude the taste buds. Regardless, I thought it was a tasty treat, and an ideal blend to curb sweet-tooth cravings.
