Like that Presidents of the United States song of the 90s, I've waxed palate-ic about my love of peaches. I grew up on the canned variety, and even took pleasure in emptying the liquid remains. Seconded only to apples, I knew no impulse control for peaches. Anything flavored remotely like a peach would garner some form of approval. Even a black tea.Stash Tea possesses several peach-themed blends, most accompanied with ginger. That seems to be a common mix. I'm not sure why peaches and ginger root compliment each other. Perhaps both bring out each other's inner tang. While I did express some disappointment for this blend's lack of actual dried peach pieces, this was easily forgiven once I took a whiff. That canned peach entrail scent, I knew it anywhere.
I brewed this baby up in 16 oz. of rolling-boiled water, 2 teaspoons worth, for five minutes. The dark brown infusion gave off a bold fruit scent, accentuated a little by blended black tea smokiness. Licorice powder - another added ingredient - contributed a hint of subtle sweetness, but not enough to warrant calling this a dessert tea.
The peach flavoring isn't all that overpowering. Black tea comes through, but is more fused with the fruity "essence" - if you can call it that. In a word, decent.
