"This is an excellent orange rooibos blend and the chocolate is just strong enough to make this special."

"This blend is hard to resist with the sweet aroma of chocolate and orange and the tempting chocolate chunks! Add a splash of milk and a touch of sugar for a truly decedent treat!" ---The Necessiteas website. One thing about me is that I love chocolate orange anything---especially if the chocolate is dark chocolate. YUM! This past Holiday season, I actually ordered a sample of this to try, and recall liking it fairly well. However, since I had family visiting and shared my sample with them, I only had the opportunity to enjoy a cup or two of this blend myself. I do recall that I enjoyed the blend My sample package has an aroma which is very orange in nature. You can pick up a hint of chocolate in the aroma, but I'm not sure that you would notice it if you didn't know that chocolate was one of the ingredients in the blend. Like most blends from The Necessiteas, my sample package features lots of hunks of orange peel and chocolate chips---the little extras that I have come to expect from one of my favorite tea companies.
I infused this for 5 min in water that had been brought to a full boil. The flavor profile of this is dominated by the orange flavor, but it does have a nice chocolate undertone to it subtle though it may be. The orange flavor is full, bright and natural tasting and the chocolate adds interest to the blend. The chocolate is subtle and is best tasted as the blend cools a bit. This is not the type of chocolate profile that is going to satisfy a chocolate craving, but I have to say that I like this flavor profile pretty well. It is nicely done and as suggested by The Necessiteas, I did enjoy this best with a bit of rock cane sugar and splash of cream. I also think that a splash of chocolate milk would transform this into a decadent dessert-like experience.
Overall, as a total lover of anything chocolate orange, I have to say that I do like this blend quite well. This is an excellent orange rooibos blend and the chocolate is just strong enough to make this special. I would actually rate this a bit higher, but this blend is a little on the expensive side at $14 for a 4 oz tin. However, this is still one that I expect will find its way into my tea cabinet at some point. If you are lover of chocolate orange flavors like I am, then this one is worth consideration.
