This is the first time I’ve tried a tea from this company. All I knew about them before now were the stackable tins they have. Zhena is the actually name of the founder and she has come a long way from selling tea on the streets in 2000. You can read her story on the website. The company has made a commitment to social responsibility, sustainability and the well being of others. It has even won some awards for this.
Well I have to say - this combination of chocolate and jasmine intrigued me. I know I’ve tried a chocolate bar with jasmine, so I’m really interested in trying this. This is such a new blend that there isn’t even anything about it on the website. When I opened the package I took a smell and it was kind of medicine-like. The tea had small black tea leaves, jasmine flowers and what looks like cocoa nibs. After I steeped the tea the scent of the leaves was better, but there was a cooked food aroma - I don’t know what it is. In the cup, the jasmine aroma was pleasing and the chocolate wasn’t too sweet. It was a little bitter, but in a complementary, chocolaty way. There was something pleasantly unique about the flavor - I really did enjoy it. There was a long lingering affect after I had swallowed. This is for those who want something a little floral and sweet for a unique taste.
