I always love a good Formosa tea. I find they generally come across as very hearty and bold - still delicate compared to most black teas, but a somewhat easier transition to oolongs if you prefer a heavier flavour.I haven't tried any other of Narien's offerings, but they seem to have an affinity for simple, classic teas. They are also the only website I have seen that offers small leaf camellia sinensis seeds for sale in case you want to try growing your own tea plants. I'm not brave (or talented) enough to go for it, but it's a pretty cool idea.
A three minute steep produced a pale amber cup with a dark and hearty taste and a touch of peppery aftertaste. It wasn't quite as rich as I hoped, and the scent was somewhat lacking, but it was still a satisfying drink. The second steep produced a more refreshing cup with a watery character. Again, nothing stellar, but solid and consistent. Both cups smelled faintly of fruit and creaminess, but those flavours were mostly lost in the taste.
For only $8 for three ounces, this is a decidedly affordable tea. It is an excellent oolong for the less experienced drinker who is looking for some basics to try or a black tea drinker who wants to expand his or her horizons.
Find this and many other top-quality teas at Narien Teas, Inc..

Are you sure that was a 6.2? I would have given it a 6.3, maybe even 6.315.
