zhenaberrybelliniWhen I think of the term "sachets," I think of large (frequently pyramid-shaped) teabags that contain a tea almost exactly like the loose-leaf brethren: full-leaf and full flavour with plenty of room to expand. This meant that I was immediately disappointed to find that this particular Zhena's Gypsy Tea comes in something, while they tout it as a sachet, that is actually just the small, spaceless type of teabag that you find in every grocery store.

The bag smelled delicious, and I really love bellinis, so I was still stoked to try this tea. It smelled of berries and peaches and deliciousness. After four minutes in seven ounces 180-degreeish water, the tea no longer smelled like much. It didn't taste like much, either, so I decided to steep a second cup. This time I used hotter water that was just below boiling and left it for over 5 minutes, hoping to bring out more of the flavour.

My second cup was no better than the first, and I was beginning to feel rather disappointing. The idea was there, and the name was there, but the flavour just didn't deliver. After it was steeped, much of the fruity scent had gone, and the predominant flavour ended up being the hibiscus with the rosehip pulling out ahead in the aftertaste.

There wasn't really much aftertaste, depth, or even main flavour. Perhaps most upsetting is the fact that the only flavours I could taste were herbal. I had to check the website again to make sure that this was supposed to be a green tea because I got absolutely no green tea flavour from this blend. I wasn't horrified by this blend, and I finished my second cup, but I won't be seeking it out again.
