Vanessa’s Teaview Snapshot
"This is a light-bodied oolong that is predominantly floral in its flavor, but it also has a subtle buttery-smooth flavor to it as well. Being light and uplifting, this tea seems perfect for a late afternoon cup. "

I can count on one hand, wait, make that one finger, the number of Vietnamese teas that I have tried. Simpson and Vail's Vietnam Imperial Oolong holds the distinction of being unique in that respect. The leaves are loosely rolled nuggest with a faint yet pleasant aroma. When infused, the leaves uncurled to show off a brilliant olive green color. As with many oolongs, a small amount of leaves is all that was needed to produce a nice cup, and the volume of the steeped leaves was several times greater than that of the initial dried and rolled leaves. A beautiful yellow liquid with a flowery aroma was the result of my infusion. The floral aspect of this tea is at a good level, being neither too strong nor too subtle. This is a light-bodied oolong that is predominantly floral in its flavor, but it also has a subtle buttery-smooth flavor to it as well. Being light and uplifting, this tea seems perfect for a late afternoon cup. In all, this wasn't the best oolong I have had, but it is a nice example of an oolong whose floral scent and aroma are well-balanced and not overpowering.
