This tea is designed to be great hot or iced." -Zhi TeaI love mangoes. They may be one of my favorite fruits. I know the owner of this company, and she makes a great tea, so I really wasn't worried about the mango tasting too fake. I was very pleased with this tea. It's very pretty in the bag with little mango swirls throughout the asaam black tea. It smelled overwhelmingly of mangoes and I was very excited, but my first cup turned out bitter. I agree completely with Laura on this one; this tea is very finicky in brew. I boiled the water the first time, and let it steep maybe a minute too long while I asked my roommate if she wanted a cup. I brewed another, steaming the water and watching the tea so I poured it at 3 minutes exactly and it was great!
I also agree Zhi could have chosen a different black as the base, but all in all it is a great cup if prepared properly. I really enjoy asaam teas, and this one was a big hit. Just make sure you like mangoes if you are trying this, and you can watch the tea diligently while steeping. It's also really great iced, just keep the steeping time the same here.
