I figured I'd just jump right in and make a pot of this tea to to resteep and drink all day long. After all, it looks delicimous (that's totally a word), and I've never met a simple, unflavoured oolong I outright didn't like. My advance apologies for the fact that I'll just be writing tasting notes throughout the day, so this may be a bit more disjointed than normal.Pot #1:
I found this steep very smooth and relaxing. The prominent characteristic is a milky flavour, with a hint of flowers in the background, teasing you to excitement for what may lie in the following steeps.
Pot #2:
The milky flavour is less obvious, and the lilac is bolder but still smooth. A hint of nutty flavour lies in the background.
Pot #3
Creaminess is all but undetectable, and I found the strongest flavour was a nuttiness with lilac hiding a bit more in the background this time.
Pot #4
Almost all that remained now was the tastes of lilacs. After four steeps, the leaves were completely unfurled and my bladder was exploding, so I didn't manage to see if the tea could withstand a fifth bout of water.
The bottom line is that this tea remained subtle, yet flavourful with every steep, revealing varying characteristics in different amounts each time. I enjoyed the experience overall, finding it quite relaxing. This is a perfect example of why, while they may not always be the least expensive teas, oolongs are often the most affordable in that you get so many cups of deliciousness out of such a small amount.
