rishipuerehgingerPu-erh is a relatively new field of tea to me (Who am I kidding? I've only been seriously drinking tea for a few years - everything is relatively new for me in the vast sea of teaness). I have only tried one other flavoured pu-erh, and while interesting, I can't say it's something I would recommend.

Ginger is a tough flavour to work with. If you add too little, it just adds a slight spiciness without much flavour. If you add too much, the flavour quickly overcomes the tea. Pu-erh has a rather strong and distinct flavour, so I assumed it could stand up to the addition of ginger, but the question remained whether or not I'd like it.

After five minutes in as hot as possible water, this smelled and looked distinctly pu-erh with a hint of ginger in the scent. The flavour much resembles the smell - very pu-erh with ginger and orange peel melding perfectly throughout. My favourite part is that the ginger lasts forever, tingling on the tongue like I had just drunk a tiny, delicious fairy. While being obviously a pu-erh tea, this refrains from coming across as too fishy or meaty. Since those aren't everyone's favourite qualities, it is nice to find a tea that holds back a little.

This is unique and well-blended. It is an interesting and exciting tea with a very reasonable price tag. This tea can appeal to both those who have experience with pu-erh and are looking to expand or those who have yet to brave it, and don't want to try something too intense.
