Thumbs up!"This is a very mild chai and well done for someone looking for that quality in their chai. It is smooth and has a very nice cinnamon taste to it."

goldenmoonkashmirichai"Kashmiri Chai is a unique tea blend with a smooth, rich and robust flavor. You will love this Kashmiri Chai tea because it is a rare combination of black and green tea with the best quality cardamom seeds, cloves, spice oil and cinnamon." --- Golden Moon's website.

I have been very pleased with my samples from Golden Moon so I have been looking forward to sampling this Kashmiri Chai. As I reference so often when I review chai blends, I am a chai girl and request a lot of chai samples. I prefer a spicy chai blended with a strong black tea (preferably assam). However, I can appreciate the milder blends as well--though they don't rock my world the same way their spicier counterparts do. My sample contains a lot of large cardamom seeds and I see a fair amount of cloves as well. One ingredient notably missing from the list of ingredients is ginger--unless that is in the spice oil? The sample package's aroma is that of a chai with a milder spice load.

I think this is my first chai that has both green and black teas in it. I used about a tsp and a half for my cup, brought water to boiling and allowed to cool a few degrees, and steeped the leaves for close to 4 minutes. This is tasty, but doesn't have a lot of bite to it. I sweetened it a bit with some rock cane sugar. This is a very smooth chai that offers a lot of cinnamon flavor. There is only minimal astringency with this and it frankly can be enjoyed without any milk. I decided drink most of mine sans milk as I am pretty sure that milk will totally overpower this. Btw, I was right about the milk overpowering this.

This is a very mild chai and well done for someone looking for that quality in their chai. It is smooth and has a very nice cinnamon taste to it. If you are someone that drinks chai spice blends without any milk and doesn't want something that is too spicy this would be a good choice. However, I like a spicier chai and will stick with Yogic Chai for now--though I give this bonus points for the smoothness offered by using better tea.
