rishiblueberryrooibos"Antioxidant-rich African rooibos and real, wild blueberries in a perfect balance provide tart, juicy and naturally sweet flavors that taste great hot or iced. Blueberry Rooibos is artfully hand blended in small batches using only 100% naturally caffeine-free botanicals and artisan herbal tea-blending techniques." ---Rishi website.

Ah, another blueberry tea...another blueberry rooibos for that matter. It seems like every tea company on the market makes some kind of blueberry tea. While I admit that blueberry is one of those flavours (for Katie) that pairs nicely with tea, it is kind of overdone. The other problem is that few companies can get the blueberry flavor right and often it tastes rather medicinal to me---and especially when paired with rooibos for some reason. However, Rishi is one of those companies that has a good enough track record with me in terms of quality and taste that I am willing to give just about anything that they offer a fair shot.

I prepared this in water cut short of boiling and infused for 5 min. Rishi lists the ingredients of this blend as Organic Fair Trade Certified™ rooibos, Organic blueberries, Organic schizandra berries, Organic Fair Trade Certified™ hibiscus, natural flavors of blueberry and strawberry. I def give brownie points for Organic and Fair Trade! Unfortunately, the resulting cup offers that slightly sour and medicinal taste that I often associate with this blueberry rooibos. Yea, once that medicinal taste greets my taste buds, it is hard to get rid of. Therefore, my only option is to doctor it up a bit in order to see if that makes the cup a bit more enjoyable. Thus, I also tried sweetening the cup and adding a bit of dairy to see if that improved the flavor, and it does to a limited extent. This actually makes not a bad iced blueberry rooibos latte, but not an outstanding one.

While this isn't completely terrible in that I had trouble drinking it or anything like that, it failed to wow me in any way. In fact, I was rather disappointed to find that medicinal taste in the blend. This is not a blend that I would purchase nor is it one that I would recommend to others in the market for a blueberry rooibos to purchase. Further, it is a bit on the pricey side. While I am more than willing to open my wallet when I love a particular blend, this is not that blend. Rishi has better blends in their inventory and there is at least one other company out there with a better blueberry rooibos.
