This tea won first place in the Best Flavored Black Iced Tea category at the World Tea Championship that was held a couple months ago. Rishi also won 10 other 1st places honors and had many of their teas selected as finalists.
This tea comes pre-measured in a big tea filter bag. The leaves were longer and looked to be of better quality than most bagged teas, especially one designed to be iced. I made the tea as per their directions. It tastes like a fresh new version of Nescafe, only a really, really good one. Isn’t that the original bottled tea, I always think of Michael Stipe (REM) singing a song mentioning Nescafe. Oh shoot, is it “Shinny happy People???” I always liked that song, but thought it ran on just a little too long. I think I’m having a serious ADD moment here.
Anyways back to the taste. There is a little bitterness, perfect for an iced tea. Ooh, that lemon flavor is real, not artificial tasting, probably because they use the essential oil of lemons in this.
I took a little and added some honey, still good but I think my honey over flavored it a little. I then took some good old granulated sugar and it brought out even more of that classic ‘iced tea’ taste.
