Teas Etc opened its business in 1998. With offices in Florida, Georgia and Shanghai, they state their values as quality, community and honesty. I like the fact that they inspect their facilities in China to ensure a good working environment and that workers are being treated fairly. In the US, when possible, they employ workers from the Palm Beach Habilitation Center. This is a company you can feel good about supporting.Mango Nut is a Rooibos-base tea which contains mango, macadamia nut and coconut. The tea looks like normal Rooibos, except slightly more yellow and less red than what I’m accustomed to. Coconut and mango shavings are also visible. The aroma is very pleasant and smells like peace only with a scent of chocolate and coconut.
I steeped one heaping teaspoon of this tea in eight ounces of water for six minutes. This produced a brownish-orange liquor with a nice body, but disappointingly weak smell and taste. None of the flavors stood out. I was not impressed and had I stopped here would probably have rated the tea a 6.
I decided to follow my normal pattern. For my second cup I added Half & Half and honey. The honey brought out the flavors while the Half & Half added to the already pleasant body. I could better detect the flavors of Rooibos, mango, macadamia nut and coconut. The honey and Half & Half create a new more pronounced taste and even more wonderful smell. The last words in my tea journal were: I would buy this tea!
