Thumbs up!"The chocolatey flavor is just about as good as it gets and bears resemblence to baker's chocolate or hot cocoa. This is hands-down the best herbal blend I have had in a long time, and I will definitely be buying some of this. "

teafortecocotruffleCoco Truffle is my first foray into the world of Tea Forte, and I must say that it's been quite the happy introduction. After viewing Tea Forte's website, I see that their signature item is the rigid pyramidal teabag, which contains "the most innovative and delicious blends of tea with whole leaf teas, rough-cut herbs and flowers". The pyramid-shaped tea bags come with a leaf at the top, and this unusual packaging certainly is eye-catching. The teabags are rather large and I noticed that, at least with my sample of Coco Truffle, the teabag was very full. This made me wonder if there would be enough room for the ingredients to infuse; this ended up not really being a problem as this is an all-herbal blend and the ingredients don't really need room to expand. The Coco Truffle ingredients are listed as cacao, cinnamon, fennel, licorice root, cardamom, ginger, cloves, black pepper. A few of those ingredients... well, actually, all of those ingredients (except for cacao) can be particularly pungent and so I was a little concerned that this blend would be a bit too potent for me and that this would just be a quirky variation of a chai tea.
Luckily I was wrong. This tea is absolutely delicious, is not overly spicy, and nor does it taste anything like chai. The chocolatey flavor is just about as good as it gets and bears resemblence to baker's chocolate or hot cocoa...and I don't mean the powdered hot cocoa, I mean the real deal quality hot cocoa! The chocolate flavor in this tea is natural and authentic and easily satisfies my sweet tooth. This is a dessert tea that can truly deliver. The cinnamon blends effortlessly with the cocoa and creates a smooth finish. The remaining ingredients were, thankfully, very weak and perhaps provided a muted spicy finish, but really didn't do much to stand in the way of the cacao. As I type this, I am trying to suck every last drop of this liquid piece of heaven out of my teacup. This is hands-down the best herbal blend I have had in a long time, and I will definitely be buying some of this. The only downside to this tea is that it is a little costly, with each teabag costing $1.00 each or more, depending on the quanity of teabags purchased. I tried to get a second infusion out of my teabag to see if that could help offset the cost, but unfortunately the chocolate magic that was present in the first cup was a bit more elusive in the second brew, which was a bit more revealing of the licorice, cardamom, ginger, and black pepper ingredients. They do sell this blend loose in canisters too, with the cost of a cup of tea made from the loose blend being about half the price of that from the teabag.
