"The one word that comes to mind for me when drinking this tea is 'exquisite.' "
|
This tea is, as the name suggests very extreme in vanilla. Vanilla is one of my favorite flavors in tea and I am always excited when I see a vanilla offering on our tea lists. The one word that comes to mind for me when drinking this tea is 'exquisite.' The vanilla is very extreme, but also very palatable and authentic. The site says the vanilla beans come from Madagasgar, Tahiti, and Indonesia. I love Tahitian vanilla, and this tea packs a great punch of it.The scent of the dry tea is very vanilla heavy, so much so that you can barely discern the green tea leaves at all. While the tea is brewing you can see the Japanese leaves open up, mostly whole leave, and you can see the bits of vanilla bean inside. To taste, the tea is very smooth with a great aroma and a warm vanilla and green tea mix that lingers on the tongue. The tea received the first ever special reserve gold star, and I can understand why. Nothing about this tea is overdone, as I said the scent is very strong of vanilla, but the mixture with a green tea base mellows it perfectly in my opinion. Of course, if you were looking for a strong green tea component along with vanilla, you won't find it in this tea. The price for is $24.00 for 100g. While I found this tea amazing, I'm not sure it's worth that price for such a small amount.
