Tea Palace describes themselves as a modern tea emporium that wishes to introduce the best quality teas and infusions to the UK. This is my second experience with a Tea Palace product and I am most impressed. The dry ingredients look like Chinese herbal medicine and smell like a combination of lemongrass and orange. The actual ingredients are: orange peel, ginger, Echinacea and ginseng and the website states that this blend is not suitable for pregnant women.
Wet, the mixture still smells like lemongrass and creates a cloudy and slightly yellow liquor that has a rather thin body and tastes much like lemongrass. The flavor becomes more complex and interesting as it cools.
I drank this tea when I was feeling a bit ill. I had a headache, a slight cough and some congestion. Call it psychological, but thirty minutes after drinking this tea I felt considerably better. For that reason alone, and I know that not everyone would have the same experience, I would recommend this tisane.
I followed the direction on the website for my first cup: 2 teaspoons, 8 ounces of water for 4 minutes. For my second cup I increased the amount to 2 heaping teaspoons and the time to 5 minutes. I also added a touch of honey. I thought this increased the flavor considerably and I added 1.5 points to my score for this infusion.
I would recommend this product for two reasons: it’s good for your health and it tastes pretty good. Salute.
