Dan’s Teaview Snapshot
"A seemingly perfect combination of white tea and jasmine, I find myself thinking of it often, and this just may be the benchmark that I hold all other Jasmine white teas to from here on."

The company with the most elusive name in the tea business - "Tea" - operates out of London, and prides themselves on numerous award-winning teas. One such tea is their Jasmine Silver Needle (winner of two gold stars at UK's 2009 Great Taste Awards).Upon first contemplating this tea, I began to question how mundane it may be getting when it comes to reviewing varied jasmine teas, silver needle teas, or even jasmine silver needle teas. I have imbibed many of each variety, and really, you can't stray TOO far from the ordinary without the addition of ingredients (for better or worse), or make some drastic faux pas in the production process. So I started sipping this tea, thinking "yeah, been there, done that". But then as the days carried on and I realized that every time I went to open the cupboard door in the evening, I was seeking this tea. Typically I'll hunt down a rooibos or some other decaf, mild tea. But I began to develop quite a craving for this specific tea.
The scent in dried-leaf form is what you would expect - nothing groundbreaking, but also evocatively powerful. Sweet jasmine reigns king. This translates into the lightly-golden yellow cup, whereby the jasmine flowers take control of the flavor, but also while letting the quality silver needle flavor shine as well. These are two flavors that always seem to pair together well, and this is definitely the case here. "Tea" infuses the white tea with jasmine for a full week, and the magic is done. This seems to be the perfect combination, because I find myself thinking of it often ever since that first cup, and this just may be the benchmark that I hold all other Jasmine white teas to from here on.
