I have now sampled a few teas from the Tea Forte lineup, and today's variety, called African Solstice keeps this company in my high regards. This tea is a rooibos based tea with fruity and floral flavors thanks to the addition of elderberries, rosehip, blueberries, mallow flowers, rose petals, and the ever-elusive flavoring. There are alot of ingredients in this tea, some of which are very potent. However, the ingredients are well-balanced so that the rooibos is the focus of this tea and the fruity and floral flavors simply complement, rather than overwhelm, the nutty rooibos flavor. The rooibos itself is smooth and nutty and seems to be one of the stronger rooibos teas that I have had. The additional flavor is primarily that of the berries. The flavor is sweet but not very tart. The floral notes are the least noticeable element but contribute to a well-rounded and refreshing cup. This is a versatile tea that can be soothing as a hot tea on a cool or overcast day, but if chilled, can be refreshing for those summer afternoons. Normally I prefer loose tea to tea bags, but with rooibos being as small as it is and the Tea Forte sachets being relatively large and sturdy, I found the Tea Forte tea pyramid to be quite convenient for this tea (however, it's worth noting that this tea is sold both in the tea pyramids as well as loose, and the price per cup is much less when purchased as loose tea). I was pleased with this tea and would consider purchasing it in the future. This is a nice rooibos blend that offers fruit and floral flavors without drowning out the naturally sweet and nutty rooibos.
