Thumbs up!"The overall flavour is still within the realm of good, but I would prefer to drink Thunderbolt's Puttabong SFTGFOP1."

thunderbolttukvarRecently I had a fantastic experience with Thunderbolt Tea's Puttabong, so I reasonably hoped their North Tukvar SFTGFOP1 of the same year would provide me with a similar experience. I steeped this with just under boiling water for about three minutes, giving me a strong amber cup. The tea smelled delectable, with strong fruity and flowery leanings. It is a complex and intriguing scent.

The flavour is much like the scent, but, like the Canadian tundra, it gives every appearance of beauty and charm, yet it is harsh and unforgiving. The bitterness and acidity of the fruity flavour hang on the back of the tongue. In a way, the tanginess belongs, naturally melding with the cup, but it overcomes some of the apricot and floral flavours. Some people may appreciate the flavour more than me, and while I find it good, it is harsher than I prefer.

In case my first cup was the result of my own error, I made a second try under more gentle conditions: waiting about 30 more seconds for the water to cool and leaving the tea to steep for only two minutes. The bitterness is gone, but the astringency remains. The overall flavour is still within the realm of good, but I would prefer to drink Thunderbolt's Puttabong SFTGFOP1.
