Unfortunately, this tea is no longer listed on Zhena's website. I am speculating that this was a seasonal selection this past winter and is no longer available. Double unfortunately, my sample of this was already en route by the time Vanessa's review of this blend was published because I would not have requested a sample of this had I read her review first. Why? I am not a big lover of rose flavored teas---I tolerate them at best. For this reason, this one has been sitting in my amongst my samples for a stretch and has been repeatedly passed over when selecting a sample for review.I finally decided to tackle this one tonight in large part due to the late hour. White teas are often selected when I get the urge to review a tea late at night due to their light caffeine content and quick preparation time. One thing to note about this blend is that it is a visually attractive blend with lots of flower pieces and pops of color. The aroma is very floral in nature though the blend does contain some almond slivers and what appear to be candied fruit pieces----papaya?
The flavor is also very floral. With a name like Winter Almond White, I find myself feeling mislead as the name implies that this would be a nutty, almond flavored tea. There is nothing nutty about it and the almond is totally AWOL in this blend. I do feel that tea companies need to do a good job when they select tea names for situations such as this. The flavor is similar to rose water (or pick your flower) with a mild fruity component to it. The white tea base is mild and is dominated by the floral taste.
Overall, I am not a fan of this tea--or most teas that are super floral in nature. This tastes like (insert flower) water to me and it is not something that I would purchase myself. If you like blends that border on flowery eau de toilette, then this is likely for you. As far as rose/floral white tea blends go though, it isn't bad. The subtle fruity taste does give this interest that many highly floral teas don't offer. However, I was expecting a totally different tea when I selected this sample and find myself somewhat disappointed. However, it is so pretty and smells great (if you don't plan to drink it) so I am thinking potpourri?
