mightyleafafricannectar1I have to admit to being both a bit of a snob when it comes to tea bags and confused about why people would drink a non-caffeinated tea. Well both of those states have been remedied by my first taste of Mighty Leaf’s Organic African Nectar. The taste to put it simply is delicious. And well their tea bags, or tea pouches as they are called, are something else. They are made of a silken materiel that is biodegradable and they are huge. More than big enough to allow for expansion.

Mighty Leaf’s Organic African Nectar contains Organic rooibos leaves, natural flavors, organic hibiscus flowers, organic marigold flowers which I find interesting as the packet mentioned the rooibos teaming with mango and vanilla. They both must be part of the natural flavors. In examining the tea pouch, I was able to see the marigold and the rooibos leaves. I didn’t see any hibiscus and it doesn’t feature in the taste so I am not quite sure its purpose.

I broke out my hot pot and a digital thermometer for this taste test and made my sample the old fashioned way using water at 195 degrees and one tea pouch. The aroma coming from my cup was a pure delight as I love the smell of vanilla and there was another sweet scent that I am assuming was the rooibos. The taste…well now I can say I understand why rooibos is so popular. Mighty Leaf achieved the perfect blending of vanilla and rooibos with just a teaser of mango. This is one tea, or more technically correct, one tisane that I will be purchasing again, especially as it comes also in a loose leaf version. In fact, I have added to my cart at Mighty Leaf.

Mighty Leaf is a company that I have been personally pleased with. I head there for all of my ice tea supplies. Now granted it is getting colder but there has to be someone else out that drinks iced tea year around. At the time of this review, Mighty Leaf is having a 25% off sale on some of their loose leafs that are popular for icing. Head on over and check it out. Another bonus that I really appreciate is the fact that they have rewards program where you receive a credit of $10 for every $100 you spend.
